Those who work with leisure leave more room for their own personality. At the Sonnhof you can also fully enjoy our regional identity in culinary terms. Because in addition to our recipes, hand-picked ingredients will introduce you to our homeland. Where our food comes from!?
Home has flavor
And the best of all. That’s why we prefer to source the food for the Sonnhof kitchen from suppliers in the surrounding area. The personal cooperation is a lot of fun and opens up new possibilities for us. Reason enough to introduce our dream team in terms of food here.
All our jour pastries, bread, spelt hand rolls, baguettes and Gugelhupf come from the organic bakery Bauer. For more than 100 years, the family business has been producing the highest quality pastries. During production, only Austrian grain finds its way into the bakery. Flour, brine and natural sourdough give an incomparable taste and very good digestibility. Another specialty is the Salzburg spelt, which is used in many pastries
Bernhard Urban has been running the family business for many years and has now received over 200 awards for his products. Our entire sausage and ham assortment, as well as sausages, liver loaf, pancetta and other specialties are sourced from the Urban butchery. And when the hat is on fire, the boss comes personally and brings over tailor-made meat delicacies.
Whether creamy yogurt, hearty semi-hard cheese or spicy Camembert: Thomas is passionate about everything and brings his handmade specialties to us at Sonnhof every Friday. The young mountain farmer is bursting with enthusiasm for his craft, constantly developing himself and thus setting new standards for regionality and enjoyment. It’s clear that he is on speed dial with the chef.
Wandlehen Gut is a picturesquely situated mountain farm where quality farming is a matter of the heart for everyone. The Sonnhof – kitchen crew is delighted every time the “egg men” Christoph or Peter bring over a delivery. In addition to eggs, they supply Sonnhof with fine farm butter, first-class beef and tender dairy pork. Quails from the Wandlehen estate also find their way into the Sonnhof kitchen from time to time. The Prommegger family supports our culinary “think tank” and makes many delicious surprises possible in the first place.
The mountain farm of our chef is the reason that homeland solidarity has become the trademark of our cuisine. Located at 1225 m above sea level in Radstadt, the “Vogl” is managed in the 4th generation and supplies the Sonnhof with the best lamb and veal. The house-smoked bacon is even produced exclusively for us. Here, our chef has practically got the production and processing of high-quality food in the cradle.
The Eisl family is a pioneering family in many respects. In addition to an innovative campsite with its own power supply, heating plant and direct lake access, 140 dairy sheep are also allowed to call the picturesquely situated estate home. The sheep are milked twice a day and their milk is processed into the finest sheep milk products. We obtain sheep’s milk cheese in all variations and creamy sheep’s milk ice cream directly from Abersee.
A native of Tyrol, he has been a fixture in his profession in southern Burgenland for many years. With ten hectares of a wide variety of premium potato varieties, he is the ideal partner for us. The onions used at Sonnhof also come from Gerersdorf. The best: In the future, Christian will grow vegetable specialties exclusively for us.
Handelshaus Wedl is our main supplier for the dry goods assortment at Sonnhof. Originally a small family business, it is now one of the few wholesalers in Austria that does not belong to any international group. Because this company makes no compromises in terms of quality and management, the added value remains in Austria, jobs are secured and Austria is strengthened as a business location. And we think that’s a good thing.
The Danklmaier company has been supplying Austria’s top gastronomy with high-quality specialties for over 25 years. Not least because of the individual support, the products are always top and the cooperation is as refreshing as it is resource-saving. In total, we obtain fresh fish, poultry, meat, as well as ice cream specialties and any other special request from the Danklmaier company.
Reinhard and Andrea Mayrhofer jointly run the beekeeping business with about 200 bee colonies. The apiary is a small family business in the first generation. They refine the high-quality and excellent natural product, honey, into a wide variety of products of the highest quality, such as mead, liqueurs, special honey blends, etc. Sonnhof obtains all its honey needs, honeycombs and honey vinegar from Bischofshofen.
